Week 6 Reflection: US World Domination WW1

Hello fellow bloggers and readers I hope everybody is having a great week and continues to have great days ahead of them. This week we are getting into the best parts of US History as we are now talking about some of the biggest Wars in World History. This weeks topics is about Imperialism by the US and World War 1 that the US eventually had to be involved in. Just like other weeks we will start with some definitions that are important to these two topics.

Imperialism is when one country extends its control over the territory, political system, or economic life of another country, usually involves the establishment of colonies. Nationalism is devotion to the interests in one’s nation, great feelings of pride in one’s nation. Militarism is glorification of armed strength, nations competing to develop military strength to discourage aggression & protect colonies. Then we have Alliances which is the web of "friendships among European nations. Examples of Alliances or Allies is the Triple Entente being Britain, France, Russia as Allies, and then the Triple Alliance being Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary as the (Central Powers).

The start of the US World Domination started with imperialism, and you can start to think about this such as Napoleon capturing all of the colonies overseas. The US intended to control all islands and nations surrounding the US, which they eventually did. They took over control of Cuba, the Philippines, the Caribbeans, Hawaii, Haiti and other little nations that were still left. The US government had to know that some type of massive World War would begin to happen, so in other words they created a war with Spain. Spain had control over the islands and the islands wanted independence, so they US supported knowing that Spain would have an issue. Then the Spanish-American War happened which did not last long and was a small event to show what preparation is needed for the future.

This preparation improved the improvements in machinery from military guns to vehicles. The Spanish War ended in 1902 so that was 12 years of preparation as World War 1 was from 1914-1918. As usually the US gets involved as Supportive strategy and then usually sees a window of opportunity to create more power from an economic stand point or more imperialism. The US was just supporting the Allies with goods and weapons so they would not run out, but then the Central powers took notice and had an issue. President Wilson wanted to create peace upon the world so he created the draft and this is how we got involved in the war. While the war was happening the US started to dislike Germany for great reason. This hate will lead to other events in the future that will be future topics on this Blog.
