Hello world, is the first thing that you will probably code when learning to code. This was my opening to show my personality to everyone that is reading my blog. I am Braxton Gambrell from Seneca, South Carolina born and raised. Attending Johnson C. Smith University has been one of my best accomplishments in life so far as I have grown so much. Now, I am a graduating senior majoring in Computer Engineering (now I hope the "Hello World" finds your heart). I grew up always wanting to be an engineer but did not know which one. Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering were my favorites and most interesting to me. But because Smith did not offer these majors, Computer Engineering became my love as it still allowed me to build things in different ways. The Johnson C. Smith University football program is a brotherhood that I was apart of my full four years attending the university. At the end of my freshman season, I received the awards for Second Team All-Conference and the All-Rookie Team. I continued to grind and progress in my career, and the results showed in my final season. After my final season, I received awards for First Team All-Conference and was named to the BOXTOROW All-American Team. While being in college I have had the opportunity to join an internship at Wells Fargo in Charlotte, North Carolina. The internship was apart of the Human Resource department and we dealt with talent acquisition. My role was to update the contact sheets for different colleges and universities across America so that we at Wells Fargo could contact certain students. The internship was ten weeks long in uptown Charlotte, and it was an experience that opened my eyes to the world of Corporate America. To give feedback about Corporate America, it is what they say it will be. Gray offices, boxed in work spaces, and older people that do not look like you, working nine to five for five days a week. The pay will always be good in these settings, but make sure it is the job that you want to do. Now that I am in my Senior year at JCSU, I had the opportunity to be enrolled in the Red Ventures Road to Hire program. This is an accelerated internship program that includes a job offer at the end of the semester if the class is passed with a B. Taking full advantage of the opportunities that presented to you in life will carry a far way. To learn more about me in-depth, while going through middle school I learned to play the Viola and the trumpet. I was first chair in both and loved every second of it. I was a multiple-sport athlete playing baseball, basketball, and football. I started on every team and was determined to the best player and teammate I could be. In High School, I continued what I had started in Middle School but was not involved in the marching band. I hope to end my college experience with a bang as I am in my last semester. “To leave you with a little note, remember that life is like rowing a boat. We can not see the future, so don’t let the past determine how your future will become.” (P.J Fleck)

Hi Braxton. Welcome to our class. Great introduction post!
ReplyDeleteHello Braxton, I enjoyed reading your introduction and discovered some similarities between us two. I am also from South Carolina, Beaufort to be exact, and I was also a multi-sport athlete dating back to my days in middle school. I see that you have loads of potential and you will be very successful in the future if you can perfect your craft and stay the course.
ReplyDeleteHi Braxton ,
ReplyDeleteI first want to start off by saying I really love and appreciate your closing remark. It is a great quote to live by and seeing everything you have accomplished so far it obvious you chose to live by this quote. It’s a blessing that you had the opportunities to do the internships you have done. Especially the one that you are involved in right not. Best wishes to finishing that class with a B or higher so that you’ll get that job offer.
